Aari McDonald and The NCAA Women’s Final Four

I have a list of bucket items that I try my best to check off. Back in 2016, I attended a Western Conference Finals in Oakland, California. That was an amazing experience. I had hoped for more basketball experiences but Covid-19 hit the world.

This past year has been unreal. The pandemic stopped the world. Last year I just knew I was going to watch a game in the NCAA Tournament. Why? Because of Aari McDonald. Aari is my God-Daughter. Her father and I go all the way back to High School. He was my best man in my wedding and I was his best man at his wedding. We are like brothers. I am sure I get on his nerves like a brother. In the video below you will see what happened the last time I watched her play in person.

But, this year I got to attend the NCAA Women’s Final Four in San Antonio, Texas. It was mad real!!!!! Aari took down the Goliath of women’s basketball, UCONN. She smashed them! She has put Arizona on her back to a national title game against Stanford. I wish I could have stayed to watch the game but I had other commitments to attend to. I will be watching on TV.

I am so proud of her. I am so happy for my brother Mac. There was a point in the game against UCONN during the first quarter where I could feel his emotions. The emotion of wanting to cry because you are so happy to see your child succeed at the highest level and also knowing that this moment will come and go. I sensed what he was feeling and I was so happy for him! Happy for his wife Drea. I was happy for the entire Rodgers family. These moments are not shared by many. In order to get to this level you must be great! You must be the best of the best. That is what Aari is. The best of the best!

I also got to spend some time with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. They have a home in San Antonio with a beautiful view of the city.

This trip capped off an amazing and emotional Birthday week for me. I am so blessed to be loved by those that love me. I am also blessed to be surrounded by amazing talent. The best of the best.

Write it down. Take a picture. I don't give a f*ck!
